Happy Birthday P!

Sunday our baby girl turned TWO! It's amazing how quickly she's turned into a little girl and left infancy behind. Having three older brothers and determination not to be left behind plays a huge part no doubt. But still it's hard to believe she's reached official toddlerhood.

She had panda cupcakes and two lit candles (though her oldest brother advised against letting the "two-year-old play with fire").

Mmmm. Nothing like CAKE!

After supper and the boys' bedtime, P,having napped late, got to go to the park and "wing" and "fwide" with Daddy. Her tennis shoes were soaked from a wade in the water-filled sandbox so she went off in her pink cowboy boots and the cowboy hat from Gramma and Pa.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY OUR BIG GIRL! LOVE.

Now We Are Six

Well, at least, he is!

We went down to Prince's Island today, and he agreed to abandon the play park to climb trees and have his "six-year-old" pictures taken.

We also went down to the Bow River for a few minutes of rock throwing.

This was a favorite rock find. It "thunked" rather well.

In the background is the pedestrian bridge from Memorial Drive over the Bow River to Prince's Island. It sways a bit when you walk on it--yes this makes me nervous.

He picked this tree as "perfect for a picture" as we were making our way off the island. I just love all the fall colors we're getting to see this year.

Happy birthday our sweet boy!

A Bubbling Birthday

In April, our 2-year-old turned 3! We celebrated with birthday cake and bubbles!

The birthday boy found that a straw is a much easier bubble maker than the wands inside the bubble container.

Blowing. . .

Bigger bubbles.

Caught it!

Splat. And bubbles burst.

The Party

We've never had birthday parties: you know the kids, cake, games, gifts, etc, etc, etc. We have done parties with the family (cousins, aunts, uncles, grandmother, grandfather) who give you gifts anyway, but lately we've just let the kids pick a dinner destination and we go out as a family to celebrate. This birthday a special request was made to have over one family of boys--our usual and it's ALWAYS a party of sorts when we're together. :) They are leaving tomorrow for CA for a month (was his plea). It was great fun. We did burgers,

presents,

and cake!

It was simple and fun. He had a fun day of opening cards and gifts from relatives, having cousins and grandparents sing Happy Birthday to him on Skype (what a wonderful invention!) and ended with a party with friends. It was a fun day!

I'm Seven!

Our oldest just turned seven yesterday. Wow! seven! Honestly that seems so old. Seven is a big kid.
I remember December 1, 2002 vividly, even Matt having to move the car at the last minute so we wouldn't get a ticket. (Ticketing started at noon on Sundays down by St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto and Will was determined to be an afternoon baby. ) We've had lots of laughs about that since. I had wonderful nurses until I got to my room, but we'll skip talking about her, in the evening Grace arrived and she was named appropriately. Grandma and Pa visited and brought chili and sweet potatoes (my iron levels were quite low), and the McCabe cousins came to visit (Sarah was only 8 months old!), Cousin Kate brought coffee from Second Cup downstairs, Paula Jones phoned, and Poppy sent Grammy soon after we went home.
We were wowed at this baby wonder: 9#, 6oz baby boy! We're still wowed by him. He's sweet, handsome, and has smarts that make homeschooling a breeze. He loves life and adventure, reading and playing. He does all at full speed with gusto and doesn't understand why sometimes it needs to be slower or quieter (but he tries).

Belated Birthday (Posting)

Happy Birthday to our (now) 5 year old! (We did celebrate on time. I just haven't been able to post!) Thursday was the birthday. Matt came home for lunch; we did presents and cake. In the evening, we went out to dinner at Joey's Only, a restaurant the birthday boy chose.

Wow what fun presents! Some even arrived by mail, others by UPS.

And birthday cards! These always brighten up the day. Happy Birthday to You.
